Is iLASIK for me?

Are you ready to take the next step?

See if you meet the basic criteria by answering six questions below, or call Oregon iLASIK for a personal consultation.

Do you feel, in some way, restricted or bothered by the need of your corrective eye wear?
Many people of all ages wish to free themselves from dependence upon corrective lenses. Wearing contacts or glasses every day often interferes with day-to-day life and activities. At Oregon iLasik, we seek to enhance your quality of life and give you a new “perspective” on the world around you.

Are you at least 21 years old?
The iLASIK procedure is approved for those 21 years and up. At younger ages, our eyes often have not yet finished developing and changing. Because your vision must have stabilized at the time of iLASIK, we generally find that those age 20 and under are ineligible for iLASIK candidacy.

For women: Are you pregnant, planning pregnancy or nursing at this time?
Your lens prescription is often unstable over the duration of pregnancy and nursing. In order to be sure that we have accurate readings for treatment, it is advised to postpone scheduling until after the birth of your child or until nursing is complete.

Are you in good general health?
Like all surgical candidates, it is important that your overall health be good in order to qualify for iLASIK candidacy.

Have you had a stable vision prescription for at least one year?
Because iLASIK corrects your vision according to your prescription at the time of the procedure, it’s very important that your vision has been stable for at least one year prior. Otherwise, your eyes will continue to change after iLASIK, and another LASIK procedure will likely be required before long to return your vision to its optimal state.

Are your eyes otherwise healthy?
We prefer that iLASIK patients have good eye health. Those who suffer from severe dry eyes are not suited for iLasik, as dryness is initially increased in all patients following treatment. Such increased dryness most often leads to unhappy patient who experience extreme vision fluctuations, burning, stinging and often eye pain.

If you have cataracts, you may be more suited for cataract surgery at our main ophthalmology clinic across the street at  The Eye Center.

If you’ve answered “yes” to all of these questions, you might be a good candidate for iLASIK surgery! Call us at (541) 344.2010 to schedule a free consultation appointment today.
